Four levels of electrifying the power train at a glance

Press release :  Berne, 2nd March 2012

Association e’mobile at the Geneva Motor Show 2012 (Stand 5141, Hall 5)

A full electric sports car and three different concepts of hybrid cars are in the foreground at e’mobile’s booth this year. In addition, several charging stations for electric and plug-in-hybrid cars are exposed. The Swiss Federal Office of Energy launches the revised energy label and informs about the new regulation to reduce CO2 emissions of new automobiles. This regulation will be applied in Switzerland as of 1st July 2012.

This year, the efficient use of fuel and especially the reduction of CO2 emissions are key subjects at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show due to new federal regulations.

Electric sports car from the Ticino, Italian part of Switzerland

LAMPO3 proves that an electric car does not only use the energy in an efficient way but it also reaches impressive performance data by accelerating in only 4.5 seconds from 0 to 100km/h. This prototype of the Swiss company Protoscar is equipped with three electric engines which combine a total power of 420 kW (550 hp). This car can be charged at home with AC in several hours or with a DC fast charging station in less than one hour.

Mobile fast charging station

As a world premiere, Protoscar introduces together with its electric sports car, a mobile DC fast charging station, the EVTEC MobileFastCharger. This station can be connected without additional installation cost at any three-phase power socket (i.e. CEE16 / 32 A).

Home Charge Devices (HCD) and more

Alpiq E-Mobility SA also focuses on the charging infrastructure between electric vehicle and grid. The company developed solutions for safe charging at home with a HCD as well as a fast charge devices with CHAdeMO standard for public areas.

Private and public charging

The company Green Motion from Lausanne too presents its new portfolio of charging stations for private and public use which also includes fast charging stations (DC). The electronic module to manage the charging station grid has been further developed and offers new options to the operators as well as to the users.

Brochure about charging infrastructure for electric vehicles

The associations e’mobile, Electrosuisse and VSE (Swiss association of electric utilities), together with other professional organisations, are publishing a brochure about the charging infrastructure of electric vehicles which is launched at the Geneva Motor Show, addressing the different target groups from driver to planner and from car dealer to electrician. No special technical knowledge is required.

Full Plug-in hybrid

Toyota combines with its Prius Plug-in Electric Vehicle all the advantages of an electric car with those of a full hybrid vehicle. The newly launched car in Switzerland is based on the 3rd generation of Prius and allows to drive fully electric for about 23 km. Other than to the traditional hybrid vehicles, this car can also be charged at the power socket.

LC Super Hybrid – a route to low cost CO2 emission reduction

The European Advanced Lead Acid Battery Consortium (EALABC) presents its low volt hybrid concept as a world premiere which allows a mild hybrid drive train at slightly higher cost than the start-stop technology. The «LC Super Hybrid» has lower emissions and fuel consumption at higher performance and uses the highly developed lead acid batteries with higher storage capacity.

Established parallel hybrid

The parallel hybrid of Honda Jazz completes the selection of different power-train concepts of electric engines at our stand this year. This capacity vehicle was one of the best selling hybrid cars in Switzerland last year.

Information on the revised energy label and CO2 target values

A lot of interest may meet the revised energy label for cars as well as the regulation from 1st July 2012 for the approval of new cars regarding the reduction of CO2 emissions of passenger vehicles. Representatives of the Federal Office of Energy respectively of the program Swiss energy will inform.
